Math Fair
Oldest Son had Math Fair last week. There were about 8 stations set up where the kids rotated through as a group to solve various math challenges. Parents were invited and quite a few attended. It was very nicely executed and the kids enjoyed themselves.
English Diplomas
Last Friday, English Diplomas were distributed. In a morning assembly, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place students were announced and received a certificate. Not surprisingly, Oldest Son received a 1st place in English. He was very excited. Spanish diplomas had been distributed the prior week. I was glad to see the flag ceremony that I believe is done every Friday.
Family Sports Event
On Sunday, we were invited to a sports gathering from 9-11. All we really knew was that the boys needed to wear blue.
Upon arrival, we notice all the children have their bikes. Umm, why? Apparently, there is a bike race. Off Husband goes to get bikes.
Then I notice, ALL the adults have on sneakers. Okay, in Mexico, the women rarely have shoes on without a 2 inch heal - at least. Apparently, there are parent events too. I call Husband and ask him to bring sneakers for us too.
We seem to average knowing about 80% of information on any given school situation. However, it was a super morning. Beautiful setting and lots of fun events like:
- Bike race (Oldest Son had fun despite a wipe out)
- Soccer games (kids 1st then adults)
- Ping pong (paddle was a small block of wood with Velcro hand strap)
- Volleyball
- Obstacle course events (relays, foot races, zig zag course)
- Water balloons (always popular)
And the finale was a chicken tamale lunch for 10 pesos! (less than $1 USD)

What a great day! Sounds as if there was a lot of familiy participation. Both fathers and mothers?
Yes - there was both. The adult soccer game was quite enthusiastic with both the moms and dads having fun playing ... they also played allot of volleyball.
School days are always fun to see how other families interact and how our kids relate to their friends in a familiar enviroment to them, and see other parents (our kids friends parents) and see how they relate to their own kids. Its always fun! I am glad you and your boys are having fun!
It is always a treat to see a post from you in the middle of the week. I love to follow your sweet family. Sounds like everyone had fun at the family day.
Love to all - Ginger
You only miss 20% of what's going on? You are lucky indeed, you have a pretty communicative school. There is a lot of assuming that seems to happen here. You are supposed to know that the kids bring their bikes and parents their tennies. And next year you will know. It's like the notice we got when we enroll Son in Prepa,"Uniforms can be bought at the usual place".

Theresa
