I have reached Platinum status on American Airlines since moving to Mexico. I underestimated how much time I would need to spend in USA for work related needs.
Platinum status, while great, was not one of my measures for success in our year abroad. There have been many surprises this year.

Platinum status sounds so fancy. Do you get to use a nice lounge area now? That would be a good perk.
Wow, your year in Mexico is winding up, are you going to do a retrospect on what you expected and what really happened?

SC - Yes. I am grateful to be able to support my family and have lots of work when many are struggling in a down turned economy.
TM - Sounds waaayyyy more fancy than it is - believe me! No I do not get to use Admirals Club. I do get to board first and accumulate more miles faster with a double credit. We are already starting to plan the move back :(
