The initial rumor was Oldest Son and Youngest Son would have to extend their school year from July 3 to July 14.
Tuesday we got The Memo effective Wednesday – the very next day.
Oldest Son will attend 3rd grade 30 minutes earlier and 30 minutes later each day until July 3rd. He will also go to school for the next 2 Saturdays.
Youngest Son will attend Kinder3 30 minutes earlier each day until July 3rd. Much to Oldest Son’s displeasure, Youngest Son does NOT go to school for the next 2 Saturdays.
So in usual Mexican fashion, things have been a bit confusing the past 2 days but nothing we are not used to in our Mexico life.
Just relieved that school year will finish as expected.

We have a school in Houston that has closed for the rest of the school year due to so many cases of swine flu. When we were in France, there were signs all over the airport announcing precautions against La Grippe Porcine, which sounds even funnier than swine flu (at least to me!) I'm so glad y'all have escaped any illness.
HS - La Grippe Porcine - that is humorous, I agree!
Wow - I am impressed that they would make up some lost time.
Here in our part of Mexico - sadly - there is so little school. There are no substitute teachers, the maestras take the day off to cash their checks and to do their nails I think.
I have been amazed at just how few school days there are here - and no way will they be making up any flu closure time.
C - I should point out that our kids go to a private school which is why we are making up the days probably. It is local private school with about 95% Mexican families (NOT the Expat school). Most familes seem "middle class" whatever that means in Mexico - lots of dual working families, professionals with decent jobs or owning small businesses (very much like our family). Does not seem to have what I would call the super rich but fortunate indeed.
Wow - very interesting!
Of course what a simple solution. Extend the day and add a couple of extras. NOT in La Manzanilla, nope, school is going until July 14..we left May 19th so not sure if Lyle will "graduate" or not.
